Head of Recruitment – Leigh

“I’ve worked in the recruitment industry for 11 years, including five years’ as a senior manager. I started my role as Head of Recruitment at Kings in 2018 and oversee the Overseas and UK recruitment teams as well the contracting team. A good candidate must share in the following values; passion, honesty, integrity…and a love of Yorkshire puddings!

One of my favourite stories is about a candidate I placed 7 years ago. He was having a difficult time at home and needed a break. We worked together to find him a role in a supermarket and he’s still there to this day. I go and visit him all these years later. Since getting his job it has transformed his life for the better.

The best part of the job at Kings is working with my amazing team and being part of making a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Our Overseas Team

Sam

“Having spent just over 2 years working for a global recruitment agency, I took the plunge to come and work at Kings, and haven’t looked back! I currently recruit for overseas positions such as Youth Staff, Entertainment Staff and Sports Staff for Royal Caribbean.

A good candidate for the overseas team is someone who is bright, bubbly, enthusiastic, LOVES working with children and who is keen to develop not only the children’s lives but their lives too! One of the best parts of this job is getting to speak with and build relationships with a wide variety of candidates from all over the world, with ranging experiences, and seeing their journey progress from the start, right the way through till they board the ship, and beyond!”

Bethan

“I’ve worked for Kings Recruit since February 2017. During my time here I have recruited candidates for many of our partners.

At the moment my focus is on recruiting candidates for Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) and Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL). I love finding candidates that stand out from the crowd for these amazing roles. A good candidate will have lots of energy and be able to think on their feet. Experience is key for these roles, so my interview questions will tend to focus on your past experiences.

When we recruit staff for CCL and NCL we see candidates through right from their initial interview to the day before they fly to board their ship. This means I get to know my candidates and have to be ready to answer all their questions. The best part of my role is seeing people fulfil their dreams of working abroad for an amazing company!”

Alexa

“I’ve worked with Kings Recruit since April 2018 and have been in recruitment now for nearly 4 years. In my last role I worked with office and customer service staff, so childcare and sports staff was quite new for me… but I love it!

I recruit for overseas childcare and sports staff working on resorts and cruise ships for amazing companies such as Scott Dunn, Mark Warner, Carnival Cruise Lines and Norwegian Cruise Lines.

The best candidate’s show a real passion for what they do, research the company they want to work for, enthusiasm and a sense of humour. Don’t be afraid to show your personality!

I love travelling and share this passion with many of my candidates. The best place I have visited is a teeny tiny Island called Koh Kut in Thailand – think white sand, clear waters, waterfalls (all explored on a motorbike!).”

Our UK Team

Heather

“My Kings story began at Easter 2010 as a Regional Manager as a complete outsider to the organisation (I don’t ever recall hearing of Kings before then – sssh don’t tell anyone!). I’d previously worked for 12 years as a Children’s Activity Manager/National Trainer for a large UK private health club and training company.

My time with Kings has been a whirlwind. I delivered training for clients such as NCL, Scott Dunn and Thomas Cook in my early days, but since becoming a mummy, I’ve become Recruitment Manager for UK / South Africa Kings Camps, heading up the team to find staffing solutions with my magic hat (and WhatsApp contacts).

For me, I’m looking for that person who shows passion, energy and enthusiasm before qualification – someone who isn’t looking for a ‘job’ – but has an overspill of enthusiasm to make a difference to the child’s experience on camp.

I am energised when an interview surprises me! One minute it’s quite formal, they’re suited and booted but then they kick in with the best rap or chant which makes me join in and gets me some crazy looks in the office.”

Hannah

“I’ve worked for Kings Recruit since December 2015 after photographing their annual National Awards Party in Sheffield. I noticed there was something different about the people that worked for Kings – they were all so passionate about what they did and about making a difference. I instantly wanted to be part of the company and within a couple of months, joined the UK recruitment team.

My role at Kings is to recruit for the North of England Camps as well as to help co-ordinate University lectures across the UK as part of the Find Job Happiness Campaign.

We’re looking for coaches with the Kings Factor, which is energy, enthusiasm and a passion for helping children to develop. My favourite interviews are when candidates aren’t afraid to be silly and have fun during the interview task.

The best part of the job is definitely the people I work with and the positive culture we have around the office.

Sam

“I have 3 years’ experience in recruitment, including one year at Kings Recruit, alongside some casual experience as a Squash and Football Coach. In my role I recruit for Red Tops to work on Kings Camps across the UK. The main areas of my job are; advertising relevant positions, interviewing prospective Red Tops, issuing contracts, and of course the coffee run!

What makes a good candidate is showing your personality! We can learn the technical aspects of coaching, but the energy, passion, enthusiasm and professionalism are all innate. One of our outstanding Red Tops has progressed through various stages on Kings Camps and in Summer 2018, won Camp of the Year and flew out to Gaborone to manage our Kings Camp in Botswana. They did a fantastic job!

The best thing about my job is the video interviews (good and bad!) and meeting our Red Tops at the Kings Camps National Awards.”

Rebecca

“Having spent some time working in recruitment, after 7 years working in the beauty industry, I loved the buzz and how rewarding it was. I started at Kings during the busiest time of the year in summer 2018 and really had to hit the ground running!

My role is recruitment for Central and South West regions. This includes looking for strong, energetic Multi sports/ KS1 coaches who have experience working with children of all ages. Safeguarding is my number one priority, so if a candidate can’t demonstrate they have good knowledge, they won’t make it on to camp.

What I look for in a coach is commitment, high energy or just someone that is willing to work hard and look to progress.

The best part of working for Kings is the people I work with and how rewarding it is, seeing people’s stories and hearing about how we changed a child’s confidence on the camp, all goes without saying Kings thinks about each individual.
